  • Personal Necessity Days

  • Teachers do not need “approval” for PN days and you don’t need to give a reason for needing PN just notify an immediate supervisor 5 days prior, if possible, that you will be out.

  • Please know what you can and can’t use PN days for--EdCode 44981

  • Contract PN language: 10.4.1 Personal Necessity Leave is provided for compelling personal business which cannot be attended to outside of normal work hours. Each year no more than 10.25 days of accumulated sick leave may be used for occasions of personal necessity in accordance with Education Code Section 44981. Personal necessity leave shall exclude activities related to recreation, work stoppage, avocation or other employment. Except in the case of an emergency, unit members must make every effort to notify their immediate supervisor at least five (5) days in advance of this leave request. If a unit member uses personal necessity leave for a purpose not in accordance with Education code section 44981, they shall be subject to loss of pay for the day(s) of inappropriate absence and other disciplinary action. If you are caught using PN against the contract, you will be docked a day of pay for the PN day(s) and it also affects your retirement.

  • If you have to stay home to take care of a sick kid, spouse, or parent--put in for PN--sick time is for when you are sick

  • Measure AA phone banks are coming

  • Truckee (week of Oct. 29- Nov. 3) - calling all contacts for THS and GE

  • Please be on the lookout for sign-ups coming soon! Your voices create the impact we need to convince the community of the importance of this Measure.

  • Measure AA materials

  • There are quite a few people who had volunteered for signs, but there was only so much money to make them, so they don’t have any more at this point. The campaign is ordering more stickers, and your site reps should hopefully be getting them to you when they come in. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Notes from the President

  • Thank you for staying positive, and helping your colleagues (especially all of our new hires!) at this super busy time of the year! Teacher conferences take so much time to facilitate and prepare for--thank you for all that you do!

  • It is almost time for Measure AA--have you participated in the campaign? There are many ways to help--please contact Kate Teller for more information.

  • Happy Halloween to all--please stay safe, and help our kiddos make good choices :)

Notes from the Treasurer

  • Thank you note from Garrett Hamilton for his 2018 TTEA scholarship.

  • Those of you with senior children, don’t forget to have them apply for the TTEA scholarship on the Truckee Tahoe Community Scholarship form.
