How mistakes help students learn
Bringing Tech into the classroom
Notes from the President:
Dear members,
I have said it often, but it cannot be said enough--I, personally, am so thankful for TTEA, and all of our amazing members. Our community, district, and students are so lucky to have such dedicated, loving, and nurturing staff. I hear stories constantly about how our members have gone above and beyond in order to contribute positively in the lives of students, and I could not be more proud to be your president!
As the holidays approach, I hope that you will take some well-earned time off so that you can enjoy your families and friends. We are all so lucky. Please take this time to take care of yourselves (which is easier said than lived, I know). We cannot, however, continue to do the amazing work that we do if we are run-down, and “out of batteries.” I wish you all the warmest and happiest holidays!
Thank you,
~Jess DeLallo
Notes from the Treasurer:
WE ARE RICH. We have our jobs, our families, our homes, our “stuff”, and a rich career teaching. Please consider sharing the wealth with those affected by the Camp Fire and the Woolsey Fire, who are trying to teach when they have lost their homes, their “stuff”, and in some cases, their school… AND they are trying to be the moral support for the families they teach, who have also lost much. Let’s be THEIR moral support.
Camp Fire / Paradise Teachers GoFundMe - benefits burned out teachers from Paradise - Paradise has lost several of their 9 schools, and many teachers’ homes
You can Mail Checks or grocery or visa gift cards to: Chico RRC (CTA local affiliate office supporting Paradise area) 1430 East Ave Chico CA, 95926 Make check out to: CUTA Fire Relief Fund. Add Camp/Paradise Fire in memo line
Google search either fire for general options to help other specific and nonspecific entities.
CTA FIRE HELP flyer - has links and numbers for both ends of the state.
...and while we are talking about disasters, please remember that your CTA dues give you the benefit of tapping into the CTA Disaster Relief fund - (which is ALREADY being distributed to teachers affected by fires in California). Print this form and/or save this link and stick it in your insurance file, should your house incur damages due to fire, earthquake, flooding, (burst pipes!), or whatever causes you to be out of your house to be fixed.
And for those who have asked, here is the link again for members to add a donation to the TTEA Scholarship Fund from their paychecks. We fund three $1000 scholarships for the graduating TTUSD senior children of our members
Notes from the benefits chair:
Benefits Bonanza dates will be coming soon! Hoping to schedule, CalSTRS, CTA retirement, NEA/CTA member benefits, The Standard Disability, etc. Is there a session you’d like to attend? Please send me an email and we can try to get a presentation in our area.
Great news! Over half of us have now named a beneficiary for NEA automatic life insurance policy. Your family members thank you! Taking Care of the Caregiver seems to have worked. According to NEA, this turn out is a success (see the chart below).
